Our World is full of hidden gems, and it isn't every day that you come across one, let alone two, But when you do, its all you could ever wish for.
Enter Washington D.C., 815 Vst, NW
This is the location of one of the most famous venues around the world, the 9:30 Club.
Tonight, September 19th, 2012, The venue is packed with people staring at an stage packed with instruments and mics, all awaiting the presence of a man who was once a rugged street busker from Dublin Ireland, he's now taking over the singer/songwriter world with ease. That man is Glen Hansard.
But before the crowd was to be honored by Glen's presence, they were in for a truly wonderful surprise, yet another hidden Gem, The Lost Brothers.
The Lost Brothers are a soulful folk duo from Ireland. The group awed the crowd with their excitement and energy at being in D.C. , as it was the groups first time there.
The band then played magnificent tunes off of their various albums.
Songs like:
Pale Moon, Goodbye Kid, and Angry at the Sun, fill the heart and mind with the lush green Irish countryside, rolling hills, and romantic evenings. The Power the band emanated was infectious, you are, to simply put it, sent on a beautiful and majestic journey.
After they played, I had a short opportunity to congratulate O'sheen, the bands ever ready front man. He was ecstatic to have us all there, saying that D.C. has been quite nice, and that the crowd couldnt have been better. He then told me that the bands new album "The Passing of The Night" is to be released in 2 days via iTunes and Readymade Records, This will be the groups third LP to date. So be sure to go swoop yourself a copy.
Then it was Glen's Turn.
Immediately upon taking the stage, there was a silence so thick you could cut it with a knife. The Golden Moment.
Glens uncanny ability to keep the crowds attention by insight and humor was absolutely fantastic.
Playing songs from his new album "Rthym and Repose", as well as some hits from "Once" and some songs from his older band, The Frames.
Songs such as: Philander, Love Don't Leave me Waiting, Leave, & Maybe Not Tonight, Glen has the ability to entrance an entire crowd with little effort. As the night wound down, Glen invited friends form DC to sing some choral/ R and B stlyings. The girls did wonderful and after the songs were concluded Glen gave them both big hugs and told D.C. that the 9:30 club was their favorite venue.
Closing with his hit Falling Slowly. Glen Departed D.C., moving on to wow and captify yet another city.
May we wish the Best for The Lost Brothers and Glen Hansard as they continue their U.S. Tour.
